Garfield Primary School in LB Enfield is undergoing a major redevelopment project and within that I have prepared them a design for a wee wildlife pond and dipping platform in a small corner of the school. Ponds are an excellent educational resource for children that seem to be coming back into favour after a long period of suspicion and worry about the risks to children of falling into the water. Properly supervised the risk of falling into the water is very very small against the high benefits to wildlife of bringing a water habitat into an area as well as the benefits of learning about the value of aquatic wildlife. In no time at all this little hole in the ground will be teeming with flora and fauna. It is remarkable how local aquatic wildlife can find a pond to inhabit.
